Clear aligners straighten teeth using a planned sequence of removable trays. Choosing between aligners and fixed braces starts with your teeth, gums and bite—not the brand name or the appearance of a digital simulation.
The clinician matters more than the logo
Angel Aligners is the aligner system used at CHC; suitability depends on the diagnosis, the bite and the clinical plan. Ask who plans and supervises treatment, what their orthodontic training is and how they manage complex cases. A general dentist’s suitability depends on training and case complexity; some cases benefit from an orthodontist’s assessment. At CHC Clínica Dental Barcelona, ask about the suitability of Angel Aligners for your situation.
Fixed braces can offer advantages for some movements; aligners are discreet and removable but require consistent wear. Neither option is automatically faster or better for everyone.
Age, existing dental work and one-arch treatment
An 11-year-old needs an assessment of growth, tooth eruption and the bite before choosing any appliance. Some children can receive aligner treatment, but an adult-style plan should not be assumed appropriate.
A root-treated tooth can sometimes move orthodontically if its condition and supporting tissues permit. An implant does not move like a natural tooth. These differences affect planning. Straightening only the upper teeth may seem simpler, but both arches must be assessed together so that the bite still fits.
Space creation and gum health
Interproximal reduction, often called IPR, removes a carefully controlled amount of enamel between selected teeth to create space. It is irreversible and should be explained, measured and consented to. Alternatives may include different movements or extractions in selected cases; not every alternative suits every patient.
Orthodontics has risks, including root shortening and gum recession in susceptible situations. Tooth loss is not an expected routine outcome, but existing gum disease requires attention. Aligners do not prevent cavities: trapped sugary drinks and poor cleaning can damage teeth.
Appearance, speech and the final bite
Speech may feel different at first and often adapts; persistent difficulty should be discussed. Moving teeth can alter lip support and the smile, but dramatic facial reshaping or relief of jaw-joint pain should not be promised.
Some open bites can be treated with aligners, while others need a different approach. Unwanted bite changes can also occur during treatment, so fit, contacts and progress require review. A simulation is a planning tool, not a guarantee.
A useful consultation explains the diagnosis, alternatives, expected cooperation, risks and retention plan before you commit.
