Orthodontics in Barcelona

One specialty, two treatment approaches

Orthodontics assesses tooth position and the bite. The appliance is chosen after considering the movements needed, periodontal health and the patient's ability to follow the treatment, rather than trends.

We explain the benefits and limitations of clear aligners and fixed braces so you can understand the option recommended for your case.

Treatment options

The diagnosis guides the choice of appliance

Clear aligners

Treatment with clear, removable aligners. At CHC, we use Angel Aligners. Their suitability depends on the complexity of the movements, and they must be worn as directed by your clinician.

Fixed braces

A fixed appliance that allows continuous control of tooth movement. The type of braces and treatment duration are determined individually after an orthodontic assessment.

Orthodontics and other specialties

In some cases, it is helpful to treat the gums first, create space for a restoration or coordinate tooth position with rehabilitation. The specialties work together while each treatment retains its purpose.

Frequently asked questions

Common questions

Are aligners suitable for every case?

An assessment is needed to determine this. Some movements can be treated with aligners, while others may be better suited to fixed braces or a combined approach.

Do the gums need to be checked first?

Yes. Periodontal health is part of the assessment, especially if there is bleeding, loss of supporting tissue or a history of periodontitis.

Does treatment end when the appliance is removed?

After active treatment, a retention phase and reviews are usually needed to help maintain the tooth positions achieved.
